LUDHIANA: A team of the ESI-2 and Mother and Child Hospital, Sector-32, headed by Senior Medical Officer Dr Amita Jain, visited the kindergarten wing of BCM School, Sector-32, on the parent-teacher meeting day to make parents aware about worms in kids. They also gave Albendazole tablets to children to mark National De-worming Day. Principal Pragati thanked school staff for making the programme successful. Approximatley 300 children were given de-worming tablets.
Investor awareness workshop
An investor awareness workshop for teachers was conducted at BCM, Basant Avenue, Dugri, under the agies of the Securities and Exchange Board of India- Association of Mutual Funds of India (SEBI-AMFI). Suryakant Sharma, senior consultant, AMFI, and Ravi Bansal from SBI mutual fund, were the resource persons. Suryakant enlightened teachers about importance of investing and things to be taken care of while investing, recognising and avoiding Ponzi schemes. Bansal guided teachers about the performance pattern of various asset classes.
Mathematics lab inaugurated
NIIT guru MathLab was inaugurated at Om Prakash Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh. Ashraf Alam, professor at RIMT University, inaugurated the lab. He appreciated the initiative taken by the school. He said the lab would give new dimension to the concept of mathematics for students of Class III to X. Based on an LAD approach (Learn, Apply, Diagnose), the lab would help students to understand, internalise, discover and verify basic mathematics and geometry concepts through concrete objects and situations.
Class presentation activity
Jesus’ Sacred Heart School, South City, conducted a presentation competition for kindergarten students on “famous places in India”. Students picked up various places and elaborated what they were famous for. The activity was organised to make students learn about cities of India.
Annual Function organised
BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, celebrated its annual function at the Mata Thakur Devi Hall of BCM Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road. Students of Class X and XII, who had secured first, second and third positions in the state were honoured with cash prizes, trophy and certificates. Ritika of Class X was awarded Rs.11,000 in sports category. In academics, Anjali, Abhigyan Kumar and Khushi were awarded Rs 7,500, Rs 5,100 and Rs 2,100, respectively.
Orientation programme on POCSOA
To apprise its students and faculty of child protection, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, organised a training session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Shamina Deol ,student counsellor and coordinator of the child protection committee of the school carried out the session and enlightened the staff with the details of POCSO Act, 2012.
Capacity Building Programme
DAV, BRS Nagar, conducted a capacity building programme, on mathematics and social science. The programme was held under the under the Hub of Learning for teachers of partner schools. A total of 24 delegates attended the programme. The resource persons apprised the delegates about the changes in the curriculum of Classes IX and X and gave vital tips on integrating art in the day-to-day teaching.
Plogging activity organised
Under the aegis of the CBSE HPE programme, SEWA, the students of Class XI to XII of DCM Presidency conducted a plog run activity under the guidance of the state Sports Department. This new eco-friendly fitness activity has originated from Sweden where students pick up trash while on a run in a park. Students conducted the activity at a loal park in the morning. They also sensitised morning-walkers about this noble cause. TNS
